Welcome to Darwin! On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel on Darwin's waterfront. This afternoon enjoy a tour of the tropical city to see a mixture of old and new building styles including the old Government House and the new Northern Territory Parliament building. You'll also visit East Point Military Reserve before you join Travel Director and fellow travellers at the colourful Mindil Beach Sunset Markets where you'll toast the spectacular sunset with a couple of cooling beverages under the coconut palms. There's plenty of time to explore the art and crafts, aromas and atmosphere of the marketplace before you have the chance to choose something you'd like to enjoy for dinner. You may like to try some succulent fresh BBQ seafood, authentic Indian or Chinese cuisine, or even Greek or Japanese. You'll see why the market attracts food lovers from all around, the choice is endless!

Darwin – Litchfield National Park – Katherine Gorge
Day 2: Darwin – Katherine
Today you’ll depart Darwin and travel to Litchfield National Park, famous for its waterfalls. Your first stop is an amazing stand of Termite Mounds, architectural feats complete with tunnels and nursery chambers. You'll then continue on to view the beautiful waterhole at Florence Falls from a high vantage point before venturing on further to tropical Wangi Falls for a relaxing swim in the large crystal-clear pool surrounded by spectacular monsoon rainforest. Later, you’ll journey to Katherine the Adelaide River War Cemetery.
Day 3: Katherine Gorge
Today, 'You're invited' to join Aboriginal guides for a walk to follow ‘the Footsteps of our Ancestors’. Learn about bush tucker and traditional bush medicines and see damper and kangaroo tail being prepared and cooked in hot coals. Enjoy a BBQ lunch and afterwards join activities including traditional painting, fire lighting and spear throwing. Learn about didgeridoo custom and the craft of basket weaving.
This evening sit back and relax in tranquil surroundings on a Katherine Gorge dinner cruise. Discover the history and culture of the Jawoyn people, traditional owners of Nitmiluk as you explore two gorges with a backdrop of stunning rock faces that change colour as the sun sets. You'll indulge in a three course candlelit dinner featuring fresh local produce cooked on board your boat.

Katherine – Kakadu National Park
This morning stop at Edith Falls with the opportunity for a swim. You’ll then pass through the gold mining town of Pine Creek, with buildings dating back to the heady gold rush days. We recommend trying a delicious mango smoothie while you're there! Travel deep into World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park. The focal points of Kakadu are the spectacular escarpment and abundant wildlife, including over 280 species of birds. After an included lunch, visit Warradjan Cultural Centre to view informative displays and exhibits depicting the traditions of the Bininj and Mungguy people of Kakadu before taking a guided walk to view ancient Aboriginal artwork at Nourlangie. Just magic!

Kakadu – Mary River
This morning there is the opportunity for an optional scenic flight over Kakadu. Later, you’ll visit Ubirr and view Aboriginal rock art dating back some 20,000 years. A climb to Nadab lookout at the top of this rocky outcrop for superb views over the flood plains and escarpment country. You may recognise the location from the 1986 film, Crocodile Dundee! You’ll stay tonight in private permanent safari tents at Wildman Wilderness Lodge. Situated in the Mary River Wetlands area, amidst the lush wilderness of Australia’s breathtaking Top End, Wildman Wilderness Lodge offers you an extraordinary wetlands safari experience. This evening celebrate your Top End Highlights holiday at a farewell dinner with your Travel Director and new-found friends.

Mary River – Darwin
This morning you’ll take a safari cruise on the renowned Mary River Wetlands and Corroboree Billabong. Your guide, local Scotty Mac, will share with you all the secrets of these ancient waterways. Take in the fantastic views across the vast floodplains and see the prolific wetland birds. This region is home to the largest concentration of saltwater crocodiles in the world and you may also spot wild buffalo and wallabies at the water’s edge. Bid farewell to your fellow travellers as your holiday comes to an end this afternoon in Darwin.

Mayse’s Café, Pine Creek
Mayse’s Café at Pine Creek is one of the best in the Territory and you absolutely have to try one of their famous mango smoothies, the star of the show, despite the quirky 1950s theme decor with posters of Elvis, James Dean and Marilyn Monroe on the walls! There are historical publications to browse through, and of particular interest is a book by Mayse Young who, with her husband ‘Bogger’, was the publican at the pub next door from the 1940s to 1960s.
