7.30pm (Apr-Sep)

As this Short Break departs at 7.00am, accommodation will need to be pre-booked for the previous night.

The camel was a vital animal in the history and development of the Australian outback. Visit a camel farm – perhaps even take a ride on one of these so-called ‘ships of the desert’ – and see towering Atila (Mt. Conner) today as you make your way to Ayers Rock Resort. View the amazing collection of Indigenous paintings at the Uluru–Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, then tour the base of Uluru (Ayers Rock) with your expert Driver Guide. Continue to the Kuniya Walk, and the sacred Mutitjulu Waterhole.

In the late afternoon, experience the remarkable colour changes of Uluru as the sun sets over the world’s largest monolith, while sipping sparkling wine.

Hotel: Outback Pioneer Hotel , Desert Gardens Hotel or Sails in the Desert Hotel, Ayers Rock Resort.

Witness a magnificent Uluru sunrise, then continue to the 36 domes of Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). On the way enjoy panoramic views on the south side of Kata Tjuta from the dune viewing platform. Explore Walpa Gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations.

This afternoon, travel to Kings Canyon.

Hotel: Kings Canyon Resort, Standard Rooms or Kings Canyon Resort, Deluxe Spa Rooms

Make the rocky climb to the rim of Kings Canyon and be rewarded with marvellous views of Watarrka National Park. Or you may wish to explore the boulder-strewn canyon creek bed, a shady, easier walk.

Your Short Break concludes back in Alice Springs. As this Short Break concludes after 7.00pm, accommodation will need to be pre-booked for tonight.
