10:30am (Oct-Mar)
11.00am (Apr-Sep)

As this Short Break departs at 7.00am, accommodation will need to be pre-booked for the previous night.

Depart Alice Springs through the rugged desert landscape, passing the beautiful MacDonnell Ranges.

There is time for a stop at a local roadhouse for a quick break then view flat-topped Atila (Mt Conner) in the distance, often mistaken for Uluṟu (Ayers Rock), before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort. You'll be rested, relaxed and ready to explore the amazing World Heritage-listed Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park.

This afternoon, visit the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa Cultural Centre.
Later, travel around the base of Uluṟu in comfort as your Driver Guide provides commentary about the numerous sacred sites to be found in the area. Continue to the Kuniya Walk, where you will be guided to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. See ancient rock art and hear about the Aboriginal and European history of the area.

Late afternoon, travel to the Uluṟu sunset viewing area. Witness the striking colour changes of Uluṟu at sunset while enjoying nibbles and sparkling wine.

Hotel: Outback Pioneer Hotel, Desert Gardens Hotel or Sails in the Desert Hotel, Ayers Rock Resort.

Rise early to watch the first rays of the sun set Uluṟu and the Red Centre alight. Make your way to the viewing platform to see many kilometres into the distance, providing an ideal photo opportunity.

Later, travel to the mystical domes of Kata Tjuṯa (the Olgas) and continue to the base of Walpa Gorge. Spend time exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations. The walking trail through it follows the natural creek bed between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuṯa.

In the afternoon, you’ll be transferred to Ayers Rock Airport. Flights to depart after 12.45pm.
