What are the must-see attractions on a Perth Tour?

Perth, Western Australia’s sun-soaked capital, is a treasure trove of landmarks and experiences. Highlights include exploring the lush Kings Park & Botanic Garden, where you can enjoy stunning views of the city skyline and Swan River. You could take a trip to vibrant Fremantle, a must for its markets, coffee culture, and historical architecture, while the Swan Valley offers winery retreats perfect for tastings and relaxation. If you’re after breathtaking beaches, Cottesloe’s soft sands and turquoise waters won’t disappoint.

Looking for something unique? Rottnest Island is just a short ferry ride away, where you can meet the famous quokkas, often called the happiest animals on the planet!

What is included in a Western Australia tour?

Western Australia tours, especially those by AAT Kings, include everything you need for a remarkable adventure:

  • Accommodation at premium, centrally located hotels or unique stays
  • Expert Travel Directors, Driver Guides or Local Specialists with deep knowledge of the region
  • Air-conditioned coaches with Wi-Fi, USB ports, and oversized windows for sightseeing
  • Entry to national parks and exclusive experiences
  • Daily breakfasts, selected locally inspired meals, and unique dining options

Optional add-ons like whale watching or a whale shark experience on Ningaloo Reef can elevate your holiday even further.

Why is the Kimberley such a popular destination?

The Kimberley region in Western Australia is one of Australia’s most iconic natural wonders, known for its dramatic landscapes and remote beauty. Here, you’ll find Purnululu National Park, home to the World Heritage-listed Bungle Bungle Range—a surreal collection of beehive-like sandstone domes formed over 350 million years! The Horizontal Falls, a natural phenomenon of tidal waterfalls, and the Mitchell Falls, cascading over rugged cliffs, are also unmissable sights.

The Kimberley’s rich Aboriginal heritage is another highlight, featuring rock art galleries and cultural experiences that provide a deep connection to the land and its stories. Whether it’s the wildlife-rich gorges, immense ranges, or pristine waterholes, Kimberley holidays are a captivating blend of adventure and tranquillity.

When is the best time to visit Monkey Mia to see dolphins?

Monkey Mia is a world-famous destination for close encounters with wild bottlenose dolphins, located in the Shark Bay World Heritage Area. The dolphins can visit the shores of Monkey Mia up to three times a day, most commonly in the early morning between 7 am and noon.

The best time to visit Monkey Mia is between May and October when the cooler weather offers great conditions for exploring nearby attractions, such as Francois Peron National Park and Shell Beach.

What can I expect at Kalbarri Skywalk?

The Kalbarri Skywalk offers spectacular views over the rugged gorges of Kalbarri National Park. Situated high above the Murchison River, this state-of-the-art lookout consists of two platforms that stretch out over 100 metres of sheer cliff edge, giving you panoramic vistas of the park’s sandstone formations and unique flora.

The park is also renowned for its vibrant wildflower displays (typically blooming from July to October), making it a must-see during Western Australia's wildflower season. With walking trails and picnic spots nearby, the Skywalk is perfect for both sightseeing and enjoying the tranquillity of nature.

What makes Rottnest Island a must-visit destination?

Rottnest Island is a slice of paradise just off the coast of Perth. Known for its crystal-clear waters and postcard-worthy beaches, Rottnest is a haven for snorkelling, cycling, and wildlife spotting. The true highlight, of course, is seeing the adorable quokkas, small marsupials that are native to the island.

Rottnest Island is car-free, inviting you to explore at your own pace. Whether you’re strolling boardwalks, cycling the island, or unwinding on a secluded beach, Rottnest offers an immersive escape from city life. Don't forget your camera—you’ll want to snap plenty of selfies with a quokka or scenic views!

What can I see at Karijini National Park?

Karijini National Park is one of Western Australia’s crown jewels, featuring dramatic gorges, crystal-clear pools, and rugged landscapes. You can hike through trails carved by nature over billions of years, descending into gorges like Dales, Hancock, and Weano, where turquoise waterholes and cascading waterfalls await.

The park's unique red rock formations contrast beautifully with lush greenery during the wet season. Karijini is also ideal for stargazing, thanks to its remote location away from light pollution—perfect for spotting constellations in the southern sky.

Can I visit Margaret River on a tour?

Absolutely! Margaret River is a haven for food and wine lovers, and many Western Australia tours include stops in this world-class region. Nestled about three hours south of Perth, Margaret River boasts exceptional wineries, breweries, and a vibrant dining scene. You’ll also find breathtaking coastline and caves that add an adventurous edge to your visit. Whether it’s sitting down to a vineyard lunch or enjoying freshly shucked oysters with a glass of local Chardonnay, Margaret River offers an unparalleled sensory experience.
