5 Day Short Break | Uluru (Ayers Rock) to Alice Springs

Discover the marvellous Red Centre. Take in the sights as you explore Kata Tjuta, Kings Canyon and Uluru. Witness an unforgettable outback sunset and sunrise. Visit Alice Springs Desert Park and a town tour of Alice Springs.

Morning of Day 5, Alice Springs

On arrival at Ayers Rock Airport you will be transferred to the resort (flights to arrive prior to 1.30pm).

This afternoon travel around the base of Uluru in comfort as your Driver Guide provides commentary about the numerous sacred sites and features to be found at Uluru. Continue by coach to the Kuniya Walk where your Driver Guide will escort you to the beautiful Mutitjulu Waterhole. Later visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. In the late afternoon witness the striking colour changes of Uluru at sunset while enjoying nibbles and sparkling wine.

Hotel: Outback Pioneer Hotel , Desert Gardens Hotel or Sails in the Desert Hotel, Ayers Rock Resort.

Rise early to travel to the Uluru sunrise viewing area to watch the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre alight. Then travel to the mystical domes of Kata Tjuta. On the way enjoy panoramic views of the southern side of Kata Tjuta from a viewing platform before arriving at the base of Walpa Gorge. Spend some time exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations.

In the early afternoon travel to Kings Canyon.

Hotel: Kings Canyon Resort, Standard Rooms or Kings Canyon Resort, Deluxe Spa Rooms, Kings Canyon.

This morning join a guided climb to the rim of Kings Canyon for marvellous views of Watarrka National Park. The hike is recommended for those with a good level of fitness. Or, you may wish to take an easier, shorter walk to explore the boulder strewn canyon creek bed. Travel through beautiful desert landscapes on your way to Alice Springs.

Rise early for your transfer to the Alice Springs Desert Park. You’ll have free time to explore the park at leisure.

This afternoon tour ‘The Alice’, including a visit to the Telegraph Station, the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the School of the Air.

Your short break concludes this morning. You’ll be transferred to Alice Springs Airport for your onward flight (flights anytime).

  • Kings Canyon: Good level of fitness required for the 3 hour canyon Rim Walk
  • Low to moderate level of fitness required for the canyon Creek Bed Walk
