Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Uluṟu (Ayers Rock) – Base Tour & Uluṟu Sunset

On arrival at Ayers Rock Airport you will be transferred to the resort (flights to arrive prior to 1.30pm).

This afternoon join your Driver Guide for a drive around the base of Uluru. Continue to the Kuniya Walk, where you’ll be escorted to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. View ancient rock art and learn about the flora and fauna and the Aboriginal and European history of Uluru. Visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre to see Aboriginal arts and crafts. Late this afternoon travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Witness the striking colour changes of Uluru at sunset while enjoying nibbles and sparkling wine.

Hotel: Desert Gardens Hotel (Standard), Sails in the Desert Hotel (Superior) or Outback Pioneer Hotel (Budget), Ayers Rock Resort.

Optional Experience: Add-on the Uluru Barbecue Dinner

After sunset, join us under the stars at our exclusive venue. Enjoy sparkling wine on arrival, then dine on a menu of steak, lamb sausages, chicken skewers and garlic prawns, salads and a tasty dessert. All accompanied by a selection of wines, beers and soft drinks. There’s time for stargazing too (weather permitting).

Day 2: Uluṟu Sunrise – Kata Tjuṯa (the Olgas) – Farewell from Alice Springs

Watch the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre alight while enjoying a warming cup of tea or coffee. Afterwards board your coach and travel around the base of Uluru as your Driver Guide provides commentary about the sacred sites and features of Uluru. Continue to the Kuniya Walk where your Driver Guide will escort you to Mutitjulu Waterhole. View Aboriginal rock paintings and learn about native flora and the Aboriginal and European history of Uluru. Later visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre to see Aboriginal arts and crafts. This afternoon travel through beautiful and rugged scenery, as your Driver Guide talks about key landmarks, while sharing some local history and stories on the many sights you’ll pass en route. You’ll be amazed at the sight of Atila (Mt. Conner). Often mistaken for Uluru, it’s a distinctive flat-topped mountain that rises 300 metres above the desert sand. There’s time for an afternoon tea break (own expense) at Erldunda Roadhouse before arriving in Alice Springs.

As this Short Break concludes after 7.00pm, accommodation will need to be pre-booked for tonight.
