The Olgas or Kata Tjuṯa, are a group of 36 island mountains which are separated by magnificent gorges.
The name 'The Olgas' comes from the tallest peak, Mt. Olga which was named in 1872 by Ernest Giles in honour of Queen Olga of Württemberg!
Many Aboriginal Dreamtime legends are associated with this place. The great snake Wanambi is said to live on the summit of Mount Olga and only comes down during the dry season.
