Hobart – Freycinet National Park
As this Short Break departs at 8:15am, accommodation will need to be pre-booked for the previous night.
Day 1: Hobart – Freycinet National Park
Depart Hobart for the scenic journey from Hobart to Coles Bay, taking in wide panoramas of the Freycinet Peninsula across Great Oyster Bay. A morning tea break is taken at the historic Spiky Bridge near Swansea. On arrival at Coles Bay board the Naturaliste for a spectacular sea cruise down the western length of the peninsula to Schouten Island, the southern-most part of glorious Freycinet National Park (weather permitting). After a picnic lunch, walk up Bear Hill for magnificent views, or go fishing for flathead in Schouten Passage with our coxswain Shep. The boat returns to Coles Bay and you’ll be transferred to Friendly Beaches Lodge to relax and enjoy a dinner of fresh fish and fine wine, all to the rhythm of the waves on Friendly Beaches.
Day 2: Freycinet National Park
Take a peaceful walk from Bryan’s Beach, through sclerophyll forests to Wineglass Bay. Here you can enjoy a swim before climbing to the bay’s lookout for spectacular views. Back at the lodge, you’ll enjoy refreshing hot showers before drinks and dinner.
Day 3: Freycinet National Park Sights
Today explore the geology of White Water Wall and Little Bluestone Bay, climbing to the bay’s clifftop through pristine bushland. This headland is home to native plants including the giant Xanthorrhoea. Return to the lodge via the white sands of Friendly Beaches.
Hotel: Friendly Beaches Lodge, 3 nights.
