Day 1-2
Darwin
Day 1:    Welcome to Darwin

Welcome to Darwin! This afternoon enjoy a tour of this tropical city. See the mixture of old and new architectural styles and cultural influences including old Government House and the new Northern Territory Parliament building. You'll also see for yourself some of the damage caused to the town during Cyclone Tracy of 1974. Enjoy a Welcome Reception and dinner this evening with your Travel Director and fellow travellers at Wharf One with its spectacular views overlooking the Darwin Waterfront.

Day 2:    Darwin ‘Included Choice’

Today choose from a selection of Included Choice sightseeing experiences. You have the option of visiting Crocosaurus Cove for an up close look at the Top End’s famous Saltwater Crocodiles or a cruise on Adelaide River to see the renowned Jumping Crocs. Or you may like to take it easy and enjoy a bite for lunch at a waterfront.

Day 3
Darwin - Kakadu

This morning travel to Litchfield National Park. You'll stop at the amazing Termite Mounds and then Florence Falls to view the famous plunge pool from a high vantage point. Venture on to tropical Wangi Falls for a relaxing swim in the large crystal clear waterhole before you continue to Kakadu. Visit Nourlangie to see its fascinating Aboriginal rock art for yourself. You’ll also hear first-hand from your Driver Guide a detailed interpretation of the art and the rich Aboriginal culture as you explore the various outdoor ‘galleries' with art that dates back some 20,000 years.

Day 4
Kakadu - Katherine

The best time to see Kakadu is in the early morning when the landscape comes to life! Travel deep into Kakadu for a cruise on the famous Yellow Water Billabong. You should see a stunning variety of birdlife such as sea eagles, brolgas and with any luck, fascinating little kingfishers. Afterwards enjoy breakfast at Cooinda. Continue to Katherine via Pine Creek. We recommend treating yourself to a mango smoothie from Mayse’s café! Join a local guide on a serene afternoon cruise through Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park. Discover the cultural significance of this ancient waterway to the traditional landowners, the Jawoyn, and keep an eye out for the resident crocodiles.

Day 5
Katherine - Tennant Creek

Today you'll travel south to Mataranka, ‘Land of the Never Never’. At Mataranka you can visit a replica of the original Elsey Homestead, used in the filming of ‘We of the Never Never’, an autobiographical film about Jeannie Gunn’s life in the Outback. Or, you may take the palm lined walkway for a morning swim in the famous thermal springs – a bit of a must do! Continue to eccentric Daly Waters Historic Pub for a refreshing ale at lunchtime and then end your day at the old gold mining town of Tennant Creek.

Day 6-7
Katherine - Alice Springs
Day 6: Tennant Creek - Alice Springs

This morning visit Karlu-Karlu (Devils Marbles). You'll have plenty of time to walk around the precariously balanced boulders. Next it’s on to the interesting township of Wycliffe Well for a short stop. In Alice Springs visit the historic Telegraph Station, established in 1872. It first served as one of 12 stations positioned along the Overland Telegraph Line that stretches 3000km to relay messages between Adelaide and Darwin. It later served as a school for Aboriginal Children, known as 'The Bungalow'. Top off the day at Anzac Hill for panoramic views over Alice Springs. 

Day 7: Alice Springs

Aboriginal Cultural Icon Learn about the life and survival of the Arrernte People, including the search for water, bush food, and kinship, from a local Aboriginal guide at Alice Springs Desert Park. Visit the Nocturnal House and enjoy a captivating Birds of Prey presentation. Next up stop at the School of the Air. Witness a live class room lesson broadcast over 1.3 million square kilometres, to children living in remote locations that would otherwise have no access to public education. Continue to the Royal Flying Doctor Service and learn how the facility brings first class health services to people living in the bush.
You're Invited Dining IconThis evening You're Invited by Joe, Dan, Tommy and Ben Falzon for a home cooked gourmet BBQ dinner at Earth Sanctuary World Nature Centre. Join them as they share stories of ecology, culture and astronomy and even lead you on a sing-a-long accompanied by the didgeridoo and guitar. It will be a night to remember!

Day 8
Alice Springs - Kings Canyon

Today we journey to Kings Canyon. Travel across vast cattle properties and get a feel for just how expansive the Outback is. Stop for a lunch break at Kings Creek Station. Originally vacant crown land, the station now runs cattle and is the largest exporter of wild camels in Australia. Learn the intriguing story of owners, Ian and Lynn Conway and their dedication to Aboriginal children in the region’s remote communities. Why not taste one of their famous camel burgers for lunch? You don't want to miss out! Continue to Kings Canyon to take a guided walk with your Travel Director along the boulder-strewn canyon floor.

Day 9-10
Kings Canyon - Uluru (Ayers Rock) - Kata Tjuta (the Olgas)
Day 9: Kings Canyon – Ayers Rock

Get ready for spectacular sightseeing. You’re off on a 6km sunrise rim walk exploration of Kings Canyon, which will reward you with marvellous views of Watarrka National Park, where you’ll be able to see as far as the horizon and get a real feel for the grand scale of this natural wonder. Now it’s off to Ayers Rock! On the way, marvel at Atila (Mt. Conner), the ‘forgotten wonder of Central Australia. On arrival, enter the dual world Heritage Listed National Park to enjoy gourmet canapés and wine at the Uluṟu sunset viewing area, 'Sunset Strip'. As the sun sets over the western horizon, the evening sky brings out the many shades of colour for which Uluṟu is renowned. 

Day 10: Uluru and Kata Tjuta

See the Red Centre set alight by the morning's first rays of sunlight. After sunrise visit the spectacular domes of Kata Tjuṯa (the Olgas) and walk through Walpa Gorge, following the natural creek-bed between two of the main domes. After some free time to relax and freshen up, you’ll tour the base of Uluṟu. You may like to take a self-guided stroll around the 10km base of ‘The Rock’ or enjoy a guided walk with your Travel Director to Mutitjulu Waterhole. You'll view Aboriginal rock paintings as your Travel Director interprets their meaning and significance. You'll also learn about the flora, fauna and cultural traditions of traditional owners, the Anangu. Visit Uluṟu - Kata Tjuṯa Cultural Centre where there is time to purchase some locally made Aboriginal art and learn more about the Western Desert region.

Day 11
Ayers Rock - Coober Pedy

Today cross the border into South Australia. Watch as the landscape changes as you near isolated Coober Pedy, Australia’s opal capital! Visit an underground church and home with a local guide and view an opal demonstration. Tonight enjoy dinner at Umberto’s Restaurant.

Day 12
Coober Pedy - Port Augusta

Today, travel through salt lake country and visit Woomera. Continue to Port Augusta and visit the Wadlata Outback Centre before a delicious dinner at Cena on Chapel.

Day 13
Port Augusta - Flinders Ranges

Journey through historic Quorn and the Pitchi Richi Pass on your way to Wilpena Pound, a remarkable natural amphitheatre covering nearly 8,000 hectares. Take a spectacular walk with your Travel Director to Hills Homestead and Wangarra Lookout for incredible views of the pound. You'll likely see kangaroos grazing along the riverbank. This afternoon you may like to take an optional scenic flight to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the fascinating landscape. This evening, why not take a stroll and keep an eye out for mobs of emu on the plains as dusk draws near.

Flinders Ranges - Adelaide

Pass the intriguing ruins of deserted pastoral leases on your way to the luscious rolling hills surrounding Adelaide. Stop in Clare at lunchtime then enjoy a wine tasting at Jesuit owned Sevenhill Cellars, the oldest existing winery in the region. Explore the picturesque grounds including St Aloysius Church and take a stroll through the vines before you join a local food expert for a guided tour of  140 year old Adelaide Central Market. Enjoy the hustle and bustle, sample the culinary delights, meet the traders and share the history and secrets of the colourful marketplace. Relax with your Travel Director and fellow travellers at a Farewell Dinner at one of Adelaide’s newest restaurants, La Boca Bar and Grill.

The excursions can be booked through your Tour Director. You will be asked during the early part of your tour to name those that you may wish to join, as advance reservations are often necessary. Please note that occasionally weather or seasonal conditions may not permit their operation. Some also depend on a minimum number of participants and suitable time being available.
