Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Ayers Rock

On arrival at Ayers Rock Airport you will be transferred to your hotel (flights to arrive by 1.30pm).

Look out for the AAT Kings coaches! This afternoon join your Driver Guide and travel in to Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park for a drive around Uluru. You'll learn about the World Heritage listed national park as your Driver Guide imparts their incredible knowledge, giving you a greater understanding of the natural and cultural significance of the monolith. Later you'll take a guided walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole. Along the way you'll view ancient rock art and learn more about the Aboriginal and European history of the region. Continuing to Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, you'll have the opportunity to see Aboriginal arts and crafts before heading to the Uluru sunset viewing area.

Relax with a glass of sparkling wine and nibbles as you watch the rock change colour as the sun sets below the western horizon. It's a spectacular sight you'll never forget. After sunset you'll travel back to Ayers Rock Resort where you can grab yourself a bite to eat from the Outback Pioneer using your dinner voucher.

Hotel: Outback Pioneer Lodge (Budget), Dormitory, Shared facilities

Included Meals: Dinner

Day 2: Kata Tjuta – Kings Canyon

Rise early and travel to the Kata Tjuta Dune Viewing Area with spectacular panoramic views over southern side of the formations. You'll see the morning's first rays of sun set the Red Centre alight while you enjoy a warming cup of tea or coffee and a light breakfast of cereal and fruit. On arrival at Kata Tjuta you'll commence the walk to the Valley of the Winds, heading first to the Karu Lookout. With views across the many domes of Kata Tjuta and out into the sacred Anangu men's area, you'll be in awe of this natural wonder. Next stop is the Karingana Lookout. This walk can be a little challenging, but well worth the effort. It takes you down into a timeless haven within the domes through trickling creek beds. The views are breathtaking and worth every effort.

Depart Ayers Rock in the late morning and travel to a local cattle property, Curtin Springs Station, for a light lunch. Continue to Kings Canyon Resort for your overnight stay. On the way, marvel at Atila (Mt. Conner), the 'forgotten wonder of Central Australia'. Keep a look out for wildlife including camels, kangaroos, brumbies and dingoes. Tonight enjoy a pizza dinner at the Thirsty Dingo Bar with your fellow travellers and listen to some live music (Apr-Oct).

Hotel: Kings Canyon Lodge (Budget), Dormitory, Shared facilites

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Kings Canyon – Alice Springs

Travel to Kings Canyon to hike to the top of the rim. The six kilometre Rim Walk is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Climb up a 100 metre cliff face and experience breath taking views of sandstone walls, grottos, chasms and cliffs and the Garden of Eden, a natural spring waterhole surrounded by local and exotic plants. The walk will take up to three hours and is advisable for people with a good level of fitness. You may prefer to explore the boulder strewn creek bed, an easier shady walk following the trail between the two sheer walls of the canyon.

After your walk, travel to Kings Creek Station for lunch. Kings Creek Station is a working cattle station as well as the largest exporter of camels in Australia. If you're feeling adventurous, the camel burger is a must. Sit back and relax and admire the outback scenery as you head to Alice Springs, where your Aussie Adventure comes to an end.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

As this Aussie Adventure concludes after 7.00pm, accommodation will need to be pre-booked for tonight.
