Itinerary

As this Short Break departs at 7.00am, accommodation will need to be pre-booked for the previous night.

Day 1: Alice Springs – Uluṟu (Ayers Rock) Base Tour & Sunset

Depart Alice Springs through the rugged desert landscape, passing the beautiful MacDonnell Ranges. Stop at a camel farm, where there’s the opportunity to ride one of these ‘ships of the desert’ (own expense). View flat topped Atila (Mt. Conner) in the distance, before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort rested, relaxed and ready to explore the amazing World Heritage listed Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park.

This afternoon travel around the base of Uluru in comfort as your Driver Guide provides commentary about the numerous sacred sites and features to be found at Uluru. Continue by coach to the Kuniya Walk from where you’ll be escorted on foot to the beautiful Mutitjulu Waterhole. View Aboriginal rock paintings and learn about the area as your Driver Guide points out some native flora and explains the Aboriginal and European history of Uluru. Later visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. In the late afternoon you’ll travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Witness the striking colour changes of Uluru at sunset while enjoying nibbles and sparkling wine.

Hotel: Outback Pioneer Hotel (Budget), Desert Gardens Hotel (Standard) or Sails in the Desert Hotel (Superior), Ayers Rock Resort.

Optional Experience: Add-on the Uluru Barbecue Dinner

After sunset, join us under the stars at our exclusive venue. Enjoy sparkling wine on arrival, then dine on a menu of steak, lamb sausages, chicken skewers and garlic prawns, salads and a tasty dessert. All accompanied by a selection of wines, beers and soft drinks. There’s time for stargazing too (weather permitting).

The trail follows the natural creek between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta.
