National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, while reflecting on the ongoing journey toward reconciliation. The 2026 theme, All In, is a call for every Australian to actively participate in reconciliation. This year\u2019s theme reminds us that reconciliation is not passive \u2014 it requires collective responsibility and genuine connection. Here are some First Nations-led experiences that offer meaningful opportunities to connect more deeply with culture, Country and community:<\/p>\n

Kimberley Cultural Adventures<\/h2>\n

Kimberley Cultural Adventures offers an immersive experience through Broome led by a local Indigenous guide, a Nyul Nyul man and Traditional Owner of Winawul Country. Throughout the journey, guests explore historic landmarks while learning about Broome\u2019s rich history and the experiences of Aboriginal people in the region through storytelling and local cultural knowledge.<\/p>\n

The experience also highlights the deep connection between people and Country, introducing visitors to the bush foods and medicinal plants that have sustained Kimberley communities for thousands of years. You\u2019ll have the opportunity to see these native plants in their natural environment and sample wild-harvested bush foods while learning about their traditional uses. Combining history, culture and connection to land, this authentic experience on the Broome and the Kimberley Highlights<\/a> tour, offers a meaningful insight into the traditions and knowledge of the Nyul Nyul people.<\/p>\n

Koorie Heritage Trust<\/h2>\n

Located in the heart of Melbourne, the Koorie Heritage Trust is a not-for-profit First Peoples arts and cultural centre dedicated to empowering Koorie people and preserving their rich cultural heritage. Home to the largest public collection of First Peoples artefacts and artworks in South-East Australia, the Trust offers visitors an opportunity to connect with the living cultures and stories of Aboriginal Victoria through immersive cultural experiences.<\/p>\n

Guided by experienced First Nations storytellers, guests explore exhibitions featuring both emerging and established Aboriginal artists while engaging in conversations about history, identity and community. The experience continues with a guided walk along Birrarung, the Yarra River, where visitors learn about the cultural significance of the waterway and the enduring connection the Kulin Nation has with this place. NITA Education<\/h2>\n

NITA Education offers immersive Tasmanian Aboriginal cultural experiences led by proud palawa woman Trish. Set on the shores of the Derwent River, the experience begins with a Welcome to Country and, weather permitting, a traditional smoking ceremony before a guided walk through this culturally significant area.<\/p>\n

Along the way, you\u2019ll be introduced to local bush tucker and hear stories that reflect a connection to culture and Country spanning at least 2,000 generations. Through storytelling and shared knowledge, Trish will provide insight into the traditions, history and ongoing cultural practices of palawa people. Beyond creating meaningful opportunities for learning and connection, NITA Education also supports opportunities for Tasmanian Aboriginal people to share and preserve cultural knowledge for future generations. Guluyambi Cultural Cruise<\/h2>\n

The Guluyambi Cultural Cruise offers visitors the opportunity to experience the East Alligator River through the stories and knowledge of Aboriginal guides from the region. As guests cruise along this culturally significant waterway in Kakadu, they learn about local traditions, bush survival techniques and the deep spiritual connection Aboriginal people have maintained with Country for thousands of years.<\/p>\n

During the experience, visitors have the rare opportunity to step ashore in Arnhem Land, where guides share insight into traditional hunting tools and cultural practices passed down through generations. As part of the experience, you\u2019ll discover the unique flavours, ingredients and cooking practices that have sustained Aboriginal communities for generations.
