Hunter Valley Gardens

The Hunter Valley is not just famous for its wineries but also for the majestic Hunter Valley Gardens. If you’re looking to escape from the bustle of Sydney, then this is the place for you.

Once you immerse yourself in the incredible wonderland that is the Hunter Valley Gardens, you will never want to leave. The work of highly acclaimed landscape architect Bill Roche, the gardens took more than four years to create and span over 24 hectares. With eight kilometres of carefully constructed paths, you can explore each magical themed garden at your leisure and marvel at the number of plant species on glorious display. The pathways alone are home to a staggering six thousand trees, one million ground covers and six hundred thousand shrubs. It’s the only garden of its kind in Australia and is nothing short of breathtaking.

The nearby Hunter Valley Gardens Village is a beautiful spot, brimming with boutique stores and of course, magnificent gardens. Before returning to Sydney you must treat yourself to afternoon tea and some of the Hunter’s best homemade produce. Make sure you visit the Hunter Valley Chocolate Shop – you won’t be able to resist this sweet temptation!
