Red Centre

AAT Kings offers a range of Guided tours, Flexi trips and Day tours to the Red Centre.

Uluru

Uluru

Uluru: an Australian natural icon, World Heritage listed site and the heart of the Red Centre. Visiting Uluru (Ayers Rock) is an incredible experience. You will feel the magic of the place as you sip a glass of wine and watch the sunset around the rock. At first light or dusk, the radiance of the rock and the colours painted across the sky are certainly something to see.

Uluru holds deep cultural significance to the Anangu people, the traditional Aboriginal owners of the region. Take a guided tour and base walk and discover the spirituality that resonates from the ancient monolith. View Aboriginal rock art and learn how the rock came to life during the Dreamtime.

Uluru tells a story. AAT Kings can help share that story with you. Take a guided tour and base walk of Uluru or climb to its summit (optional). Or you could take part in one of the most special Uluru experiences – the Sounds of Silence dinner. Dine under the stars in the middle of the outback as you watch the sun set over Uluru.

Kata Tjuta

40 kilometres west of Uluru you’ll discover Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), 32 rock domes weathered over more than 500 million years. Kata Tjuta, meaning ‘many heads’, is a geological marvel that is sacred to the Anangu people.

Explore Kata Tjuta on an adventurous trek through the Valley of the Winds where you will see spectacular views across the red desert. Or take a more leisurely walk into Walpa Gorge and see native flora and fauna.

Sunrise and sunset are perfect viewing times. Enjoy the colours of the sunset with a glass of wine and an outback barbecue dinner under the stars.

Kings Canyon

Kings Canyon

Kings Canyon lies in Watarrka National Park, 310 kilometres west of Alice Springs. This grand chasm slices the earth 270 metres deep and casts a sheltering shadow over lush palm forests and native animal species, protecting them from the harsh desert environment.

Kings Canyon is a must for any Red Centre adventurer. You can choose to take an energetic guided climb to the canyon rim and see magnificent views of Watarrka National Park, or take an easier walk through the boulder-strewn canyon floor.

Until recently, the majesty of Kings Canyon was little known to European settlers, but the Luritja Aboriginal people have called this area their home for more than 20 000 years.

Alice Springs

Alice Springs is Australia's most famous outback town. Situated 200 kilometres from the geographic centre of Australia, Alice Springs reflects the spirit of Australia's outback.

The town was established by early explorers who built a repeater station along the Overland Telegraph line in 1872 to relay messages from Darwin to Adelaide. You can still see the historic Telegraph Station today.

There's a lot to do in and around Alice Springs like visiting Australia's largest Aboriginal art gallery, learning about desert reptiles and marsupials at Alice Springs Desert Park, riding camels through the desert and 4WDing into the oasis of Palm Valley. Take a tour around town and visit the iconic Royal Flying Doctors Service and School of the Air. Enjoy a panoramic view of Alice from Anzac Hill and see the MacDonnell Ranges that flank the town, stretch across the horizon.

Take a trip with AAT Kings and discover that there is no other town like Alice.

Tennant Creek

On route to Tennant Creek you’ll arrive at Karlu Karlu (Devils Marbles), a unique and mysterious rock formation. The Warumungu people believe that these rocks are the eggs of the Rainbow Serpent, a creature that features in many Aboriginal Dreamtime stories.

Tennant Creek is often referred to as having a ‘heart of gold’ – a testament to the town’s gold mining history and friendly locals. Join a local guide for a tour of the historic Battery Hill Precinct where you can experience what life was like for an early miner.
